A gem!
I knew nothing about this hotel when I booked and was absolutely delighted. It's small but absolutely charming and very conveniently located. The dining room where you have the generous breakfast (with cheese and ham and home-made jam) doubles as an antiquities store, full of intersting objetcs, chandeliers, and clocks. There are also plenty of original and charming decorative items in the rooms. Everything is clean and well-cared-for, and the owner is friendly and helpful. On top of that, this place was very affordable by Swiss standards. 

Charming, Unique B & B in Old Town.
Hotel Am Ring is a small hotel/ B & B in the Old Town area of St. Gallen. It is an easy 5-minute walk from the main train station and very close (walking) to shopping, restaurants, the famous cathedral and library. The owner, Eliane, is an avid antiques collector and creator of crystal chandeliers. Many items are displayed and for sale in the breakfast room, a unique room in which to enjoy a tasty breakfast of cold cuts, cheeses, hard boiled eggs, bread, homemade jams, yogurt, muesli, juice, coffee, tea. The guest rooms are also decorated uniquely, not like those in bigger traditional hotels. Although the room had unique, antique accoutrements, it also had a king size bed, modern shower, TV, internet access, leaded glass windows and plenty of closet space. It felt very comfortable and homey. I highly recommend this B & B when visiting St. Gallen 

Ein super B&B,in dem alles passt. Die Zimmer sind sauber und gemütlich eingerichtet, das Frühstück ist lecker (va. das knusprige St. Gallerbrot), die Besitzerin ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, das Hotel liegt zentral zwischen Bahnhof und Stadtkern und der Preis stimmt auch. Der Frühstück-raum mit integrietem Antiquitätsladen und die im gleichen Stil eingerichteten Zimmer verleihen dem Hotel einen Charme, den "normale" Hotels nicht haben. Kann ich sehr empfehlen!
